Here for the gear Reinstalling Windows 7 Hp Z400 Workstation Hi all I Have a Hp Z 400 workstation which I use for my main music production computer. I would like to format the main and reinstall windows 7 pro 64 which is what the system is running. I do have a windows 7 pro disk with a different activation sticker then the one on pc case do I still use the one on case? Also if I format the main drive do I need to reinstall the drivers first before reinstalling windows 7 or do I just do the reinstall since I don't have any driver disc for it is there a disc available? For daw software mostly run Ableton live 9 cakewalk sonar platinum reason 8.
Hello ankurgupta555 ; Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums! I read your post about needing Win10 drivers and wanted to help. The problem you're up against is that Microsoft only supplies drivers with the most basic functionality, and what you really need for FULL functionality in OEM machines is the specialized drivers written for the specific hardware found in those machines - and unfortunately, there are no HP Win10 drivers for your PC. While Win8.1 drivers most often DO work on Win10, the same can not be said of Win8 drivers. You could try them individually, but before you do that, you should consider using a product like Driver Backup to make a backup of your existing drivers, so you can restore the current drivers if the new ones pose problems. Some driver alternatives you can pursue are listed below. You can try using Windows Updates to find drivers from the Microsoft repositories for your device: Windows Update doesn't yield new drivers, you can pursue alternative that are described in the linked Microsoft Windows Insider Community thread: you then run into trouble installing drivers through Windows Update, you can try using Microsoft's Windows Update Troubleshooter: basically, to get full hardware functionality from your PC, you would really need to restore it to its original factory condition, and for that, you would need HP Recovery Media.
