It arrived in only 3 days from TN to TX with the standard amazon free shipping for items over . Since it doesn't have a tower, I have my HP sitting on a cart with rollers next to my bed so I can get online or watch movies after I get in bed at night. It has an on-screen keyboard that I can pull up to use from my bed in the dark, so I won't have to bother with the wireless keyboard and mouse. It also has a writing box that I can pull up and either print sentences or write them in longhand. Then it types what I write and inserts it into new emails, etc. For watching movies, the picture couldn't be more perfect on the 23 screen. And the Beats sound system speakers sound almost as good as my 1,000 watt home theater system. If I turned the volume up all the way, it would blast me out. No need for external speakers! I absolutely love it. The only thing is, HP left some critical info out of the owners' manual, like the location of the power on button. It took me almost an hour to find it, because it's very oddly placed. I couldn't find a tech support phone number in the HP manual, just online support, which I couldn't find the power button to get online- LOL. Also missing from the manual was how to dim the brightness of the screen. For movies, the brightness needs to be maximum like it arrived. But for email, etc., it's way too bright. I finally found that I could go to the control panel and then to change screensaver. When that comes up, you can choose change power setting, and a scale will come up at the bottom of that page where you can adjust the brightness. The HP Touch Smart (9.99 list at Best Buy) is a midrange touch all-in-one desktop with a large 23-inch screen and a decent sub-0 price tag. Sounds like the recipe for an excellent PC, but it's missing several key features present on most other similarly priced systems, taking points off of the Touch Smart 520-1030's scorecard. Design and Features The looks just like the other desktop in the Touch Smart 520 family, which is a 23-inch widescreen mounted on a permanent base with a single hinge built in for the tilt mechanism. The wide hinge housed in a wide base makes the incredibly stablea good trait for a touch screen system, and a trait that was missing from the Samsung Series 7 ( DP700 A38-01) (9.99 at Best Buy, 4 stars which wobbled after each tap. The sides and back of the system are where you'll find the six accessible USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet, power adapter jack, audio jacks and a media card reader ( SD/ MMC/ MS/ MSPro). Unfortunately, you won't find HDMI-in or -out ports, e SATA, or USB 3.0. Introduction & Specifications Considering how close HP came to selling off or severing its world leading PC division, it's products like the new Touch Smart all-in-one ( AIO) that make us glad somebody switched out the company's water supply. Actually, it's HP's old CEO, Leo Apotheker, who was responsible for the OEM's temporary insanity, and not some tainted H2 O, but that's a rant for another time and another place. What we're focusing on here is an AIO system that comes well spec'd and offers a surprising amount of performance in a form factor typically more focused on aesthetics and convenience than raw computing power. The Touch Smart is a fairly remarkable AIO equipped with high-end hardware and a robust selection of software, all of which comes wrapped in a 23-inch touchscreen display with a speaker bar blasting out Beats Audio. Any fears that HP's preoccupation with righting its ship would result in a degraded product line go right out the window when you run your finger down the 520's spec sheet, which includes an Intel Core i7 2600 S processor clocked at 2.8 GHz, 8 GB of DDR3 system memory, a capacious 2 TB hard drive, discrete graphics powered by AMD's Radeon HD 6450 A GPU, and even a Blu-ray burner. Oh, and there's a TV tuner shoved inside too, for good measure. These are low-power, desktop-class components crammed into an AIO form factor as part of a redesigned Touch Smart series meant to be light, thin, and altogether stylish. Other than the part about this being a lightweight PC (the folks at HP must work out HP delivers on its promises, and quite frankly exceeds our expectations at nearly every turn. 12:52 PM I just installed Windows 8.1 on my HP Touchsmart all in one desktop with beats audio. The old Windows 8 audio driver does not work and the when I went to the HP website there is not a current version under this PC that works with Windos. Does anyone have a driver solution. Windows 8.1 says there is no auido device installed after this upgrade. Any help is appreciated. I wanted to talk with HP phone support, but my PC is 26 days out of warranty and he wanted to trouble shoot. Microsoft Support says is is an HP Driver issue. Thanks for any offers. Yesterday when I went to use my computer I noticed that the curser was not following the movements that I wanted it to. In fact it kept going to the very right edge of the screen and would be clicking try to close windows and select anything on the right side. I couldn't even get the curser over to the Left side of the screen. I tried cleaning the screen, no results. I tried cleaning my mouse, no results. I tried changing the batteries of my mouse, nothing. I tried switich so that I clicked the right side of the mouse instead of the left, nada. I reinstalled the driver and restarted, sucess (or so I thought). I try to use my computer again today, mouse is jumping, same thing as yesturday but worse. I can't keep anything open to read any information on how to help me. I re-reinstall the driver and restart, yeah.no. I try to reboot, not able to because my mouse is jumping so much I can't get to the controll panal. I try rebooting manually, I didn't do it right because the screen where I can open is safe mode isn't coming up. The mouse is still jumping so heck, let's restart her again. I log in and suddenly everything is quiet, the mouse isn't jumping it's following my commands, it's behaved long enough for me to register for the forum and write about this god-forsaken problem.
