Hi 2busy, Welcome to Microsoft Answers. Which program are you trying to run that needs. NET 1.1  installed on the computer?. NET framework 1.1 is an old version and you already have higher version i.e. NET framework that comes preinstalled on your computer. When you have higher version, I don’t think you can install an older version of it. You can enable/disable NET framework from programs and features. Regards, Shinmila H - Microsoft Support Visit our Microsoft Answers Fee dback Forum and let us know what you think 4 people found this helpful Marilyn, this cannot be correct.  The last time I installed 3.5, it insisted on all prior versions being installed first, in order.  There is some flexibility on the order that the patches can be installed on for version 2, but otherwise, they must be installed from 1.1 through 3.5, in order- according to Microsoft.  In addition, if they were all included in 3.5, why do we still get the old versions from Windows Update, for Windows Vista and Windows 7? Be the first person to mark this helpful Sad thing is, I have tried on three different computers all running Windows 7, 2 running 64 bit. I have went into the turn off and on windows settings area  in all of them, I have downloaded from 9 different Microsoft.com forum threads the magic link each which is different for.net framework v they do not work. Microsoft is well aware of this issue, but it does not effect their bottom line of profit, because what are we going to do. go back to XP? do any of us have XP install discs? if not we have to buy them. if we can find them. and give more money to the beast that is Microsoft. The problem arose when I tried to install dotnet framework 1.1. When I tried doing that, the following error showed up. If user click “ OK’, the installation of.
