For the Intel 4 Series Express Chipset family drivers only! This was tested on an HP pavilion dv6 laptop Windows Vista my job involves a little more accuracy on the part of video drivers than the company IT department is able to think about! This is a Toshiba Satellite C660 device on Windows 8 Pro, running the Intel Express G45 chipset with a Core Duo.
I found a driver that is a modded type for the Intel GMA 950 but does that driver really make games run better? How does the driver make games run better? Does it lower graphics so games can display lower than the lowest settings the game can play? I know can't play modern games but game made back around 2005 should play. But I just wondered that does the modded driver really make FPS go higher like in game like Wo W, Doom 3 or The Sims 2? More about : modded drivers My point is that I saw some You Tube videos about modded drivers for Intel GMA 950 and I was wondering that will it really give better performance than using the standard drivers that your computer comes with? I do play games on my netbook and it has a GMA 950 and I thought maybe I could use the modded drivers to make my games like Wo W, The Sims 2 or Doom 3 to play smoother than now. Why don't you try it and tell us if it worked. BTW, that will, if it works, improve the performance from terrible to slightly less terrible, so don't expect magical FPS increases. The Intel GMA series do a lot of their work in software which means that the CPU is used to do a lot of tasks normally performed by the GPU. The net effect of driver tweaks is to reduce the visual quality in exchange for performance. The performance gain however is from downright horrible to slightly less downright horrible. Driver tweaks will never make an unplayable game playable Dustin_ Broke June 19, 2012 PM I tried using the modded driver version 1.1 but it seems to not work right for somereason. Basicly after I install it and reboot the computer when it gets to the desktop the screen flashes alot and I can't move my mouse or anything I just see my desktop and icons but it only last for like 2 sec and then flashes again. Is there a modded driver that is maybe more updated or that will work?.
