Black Sails is a television drama series created by Jon Steinberg and Robert Levine for Starz that debuted on January 25, 2014.[1] It is produced by Film Afrika Worldwide and Platinum Dunes. It is written as a prequel to Robert Louis Stevenson's novel Treasure Island. The series was renewed for a third season on October 12, 2014, and a fourth season on July 31, 2015, both before the previous seasons had premiered.[2][3] As of February 20, 2016[update], 23 episodes of Black Sails have aired.
